Zhongshan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese Visits Macao Doctoral Think Tank; President Yang Cheng Attends Exchange Seminar

On 3 December 2025, Liu Zhiwei, Chairman of the Zhongshan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, led a delegation on a visit to the Macao Doctoral Think Tank in Macao. The two sides held an exchange seminar on deepening talent exchanges between the overseas Chinese communities of the two cities, more precisely matching overseas Chinese intellectual resources, and contributing to the building of a talent hub in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, and reached a consensus on cooperation.

Macao Legislative Assembly member Vong Ka Lon and Tang Wai Keong, Chairman of the Macao Doctoral Think Tank, expressed the hope that the think tank would serve as a bridge, precisely connecting Macao's research talent with Zhongshan's industrial needs and promoting two-way flows of talent, projects and resources between the two cities. MFTEDA President Yang Cheng attended the seminar in his capacity as Vice Chairman of the Macao Doctoral Think Tank.

Liu Zhiwei introduced the Federation's work in connecting and serving talent from the overseas Chinese community, and invited Macao talent to take part in the fourth “Yan Nan Gui” talent recruitment programme, hoping to attract more high-level overseas talent to innovate and start businesses in Zhongshan.

Both sides agreed that Zhongshan and Macao — close in geography and in bonds of kinship — hold great potential for talent exchange and industrial cooperation, and that they would establish a regular liaison mechanism to jointly contribute, through the strength of the overseas Chinese community, to the high-quality development of the Greater Bay Area.
