“Patriotic Sentiment Through Momentous Years” Themed Lecture Marking the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the War of Resistance Successfully Held
The themed lecture “Patriotic Sentiment Through Momentous Years — Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression”, jointly organised by MFTEDA and the Macao Patriotic Education Youth Association and funded by the Macao Cultural Development Fund, was successfully held on the afternoon of 8 November 2025 at the conference hall of the Macao Youth Incubation Centre, drawing nearly one hundred citizens and young people.
The lecture featured Luo Weijian, Director of the Centre for Constitutional Law and Basic Law Studies of the University of Macau; Wang Xi, Programme Director of Music at the Macao Polytechnic University; and Ma Chi Iong, Macao member of the All-China Youth Federation, as keynote speakers. Drawing on Macao’s wartime history, resistance-era literature and art, patriotic figures and youth development, they guided the audience in revisiting the years of conflict and appreciating the patriotic devotion of earlier generations.
The event included a historical photo exhibition and documentary screenings, interspersed with the teaching and singing of wartime songs, creating a warm and lively atmosphere. A questionnaire survey and an interactive Q&A session were also conducted to better understand young people’s knowledge of the history of the War of Resistance, enhancing both participation and educational value.
The organisers stated that the lecture aimed to guide Macao’s youth to remember history and cherish peace, and that they will continue to stage patriotic-themed activities combining academic rigour with public engagement, so that education in “loving the country and loving Macao” takes deeper root. The event was also covered by Macao Daily News on 10 November.
